Knowing how to educate and sell has made David Ridge a fixture in the Australian wine business. With over 3 decades in hospitality, David has experience in almost every aspect of a broad and fascinating field – from retail, hotel, restaurant and distribution to winery, wine industry bodies, importing, education, judging and writing. He’s written hundreds of winelists, conducted a thousand tastings, tasted tens of thousands of wines for import, export or publications, tutored would-be show judges, advised or represented a galaxy of Australia’s and the world’s great wine names. He chooses as testimony the words of the proprietor of a large, old (and very successful) Barossa winemaker, who said: “Ridgey might be one of those sniffers and spitters, but at least he can sell wine.”
Tyler hails from Queensland, which explains a lot, really. She’s worn many hats over the last ten years, with rigorous experience in event management and as a sommelier, but most recently, as the Bottle Shop Manager of East End Cellars. While currently in the midst of the WSET Diploma, Tyler has joyfully resigned to a lifetime of scholarly pursuits. Her vinous loves are bubbles, Barolo and wines that stray just a little off the beaten track. It’s also worth noting that she won’t say no to a good book (or a negroni for that matter). Tyler is thrilled to be working alongside one of the greats of the Australian wine industry and will be providing national sales support.
Born and raised in French Polynesia and France, but now not with an entirely French bias, Vai is mad about the world of wine and learning fast. Building on her ten-year experience promoting iconic Australian wine brands such as Shaw and Smith and Seppeltsfield, in a variety of customer-centric roles, Vai’s expertise resides in using marketing as a tool to optimise user experience. Her multicultural background has given her an innate passion for history and the art of food and wine pairing. As such, her interests also lie in championing diversity in the Australian wine industry whilst using her special set of skills to provide market support and user experience design input to the DRW go-to-market.
Here are some wines from our collection that might be of particular interest. Things we’ve tried most recently that just look wonderful, or a really good example of its type.
