2018 Giovanni Sordo Langhe Rosso 'Rapuje'

$50.00

Sordo HQ is nestled in the corner of Castiglione Falletto comune on the last stretch of the Alba-Barolo road before it takes that left fork up to Barolo village. You take this track (Frazione Garbelletto) just to the left for Paolo Scavino and Azelia, or right another 100 metres for the entrance to the Sordo family’s quite spectacular and beautiful new cellar (seen above). While the sheer impact and architectural quality of this new facility is eye-catching, its the wines that demand the most attention. For sheer consistent excellence of this number of wines, made in an essentially traditional and unforced style, it is impossible not to take note of the wines of Giovanni Sordo.

Ruby red colour with violet nuances that attenuate over time; delicate, floral, intense, full and lingering aromas; fresh, fruity, full, complex, dry and harmonious.

‘The name Rapujé comes from the popular habit of gathering grape bunches forgotten on the vineyards about 2 weeks after the end of the harvest. Different grapes were thus fermented together to give us a wine which our grandparents used to drink. Its perfect maturation makes this a quality wine.’ - Sordo

-

Region - Barolo DOCG
Comune - Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d’Alba, Monforte d’Alba and La Morra
